Who can be a member?
Any one over the age of 18, who is a resident of Alberta can become a member.

How much does a typical funeral cost?
Depending on what is chosen, funerals and cremations or burials can cost anywhere from $4,000 to $12,000.

What if I move out of Alberta or do not live in Edmonton?
To become a member, you must be a resident of Alberta. If you move out of the province and are buried elsewhere, we will reimburse costs up to the rates charged by our Edmonton partners. For those outside Edmonton who cannot use our contracted providers, you may submit receipts and will be reimbursement up to a maximum of what our Edmonton partners would have charged.

Is my whole family covered?
You and your spouse are covered, as well as any dependents under the age of 20 who reside with you. Once your dependents reach the age of 20, they will need to apply for their own membership.

How much will it cost?
Members are billed twice annually. There is an administration fee of $11 plus an additional charge for all of the funerals that have taken place over the previous six months. New members are also charged an entrance fee based on their age at the time of the application. Over the last five years, members have paid an average of $260/year. There is also an entrance fee charged that is based on your age at the time of the application. There is no entrance fee under the age of 30.

Is there anything not covered under the membership?
Grave markers, upgrades to services, and anything outside of what is listed under our rules and regulations, are not covered by the society.

What does my membership include?
Your membership covers the funeral home's professional fees, a basic casket or urn, preparation and transportation of the body, a hearse, a burial plot, opening and closing of the plot, and perpetual care of the plot.

Are there any cost savings?
Through our partnerships with funeral homes and cemeteries, we are able to provide significant cost savings to our members. Members can save up to $6,500 by joining the Christian Funeral Society.
